Operating per ISO/IEC 17025:2017
Quality Metallurgical Lab operates its quality management system in full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competence. All test methods, personnel, equipment, and reporting follow the documented requirements of this standard, and the laboratory participates in inter-laboratory proficiency testing programmes per ISO/IEC 17043.
Our Mission
Established in 1983 by Late Mr. B. Chandrasekar and led since 1992 by CEO Mrs. Hemakumar Buvaneswari, Quality Metallurgical Lab provides independent, accurate, and timely materials testing to manufacturers, fabricators, and quality teams across Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
As an unbiased third-party laboratory, our results stand on their own merit — factual evidence for quality decisions, supplier qualification, failure investigation, and compliance certification.

Chemical Analysis
Optical Emission Spectrometry
Elemental composition of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. OES analysis for mild steel, stainless, cast iron, copper, aluminium, zinc, and nickel base materials.
Mechanical Testing
Strength, Hardness & Impact
Tensile, yield, bend, shear, compression, torque, proof load, impact (Charpy/Izod), hardness (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Micro Vickers), and salt spray testing.
Metallurgical Analysis
Microscopy & Macroscopy
Optical microscopy at 50x–1000x. Inclusion rating, case depth (ECD/TCD), SG cast iron, coating thickness, porosity, phase identification, grain flow, and weld analysis.
