First Generation
The Foundation — Late Mr. B. Chandrasekar
Quality Metallurgical Lab was established in 1983 by Late Mr. B. Chandrasekar — a chemistry graduate with a clear purpose: to provide independent, accurate materials testing to Chennai's growing manufacturing sector. Starting with chemical analysis, he built the laboratory's reputation on scientific rigour, reliability, and a personal commitment to every client's quality requirements.

1992
Second Generation — Mrs. Hemakumar Buvaneswari
New Leadership, Expanded Vision
In 1992, Mrs. Hemakumar Buvaneswari — daughter of the founder — took charge of the laboratory. Under her leadership, QML expanded its scope significantly: adding metallurgical microscopy and investing in new instrumentation. As CEO & Quality Manager, she also initiated the process of aligning the laboratory's quality management system to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for testing laboratory competence.

2023
Third Discipline Added
Full-Spectrum Laboratory
In early 2023, QML added formal mechanical testing capabilities — tensile, Rockwell hardness, bend, and rebend testing — expanding the lab into a complete three-discipline testing house. The current laboratory serves over ten industry segments across Tamil Nadu with chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical testing under one roof.
